Kenneth Monroe Mcqueen

Kenneth Monroe McQueen, age 66, of Johnson City went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2009 . He was a patient at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. Mr. McQueen had been suffering from cancer and heart disease. Kenny was a son of Edith Josephine McQueen Hale of Johnson City and the late James Monroe McQueen. He became a Christian at an early age and was a member of the Tacoma Church of God. Kenny joined the U.S. Navy along with his brother Pat after graduating from Boones Creek High School. He proudly served his country on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. Kenny loved sports, especially football and golf. His style of music was Southern Gospel. He was a very outgoing person and made many friends while working for Cox Oldsmobile-Cadillac in Kingsport for many years. Kenny is preceded in death by: his father; his step-father, Ivan Hale; an infant son, Jacob Monroe McQueen; and very special friends, Evelyn and Bob Cox. Survivors include: his mother; one daughter, Krystal Dawn McQueen of Kingsport; one sister, Sherry and her husband Ray Wills of Greeneville, TN; two brothers, Ronald D. and his wife Cecile McQueen of Johnson City and Larry 'Pat'? and his wife Helen McQueen also of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Kenneth Monroe McQueen will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dr. Randy Helms, Senior Pastor at Boone Trail Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at 2 PM in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Boone Dam VFW Post. Active pallbearers will be Scott McQueen, Craig Martin, Corey Lamson, Doug Lamson, David Silver and Glen Silver. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 12 Noon to 1 PM of Tuesday prior to the service.
