Larry Chester Walden, 65, Johnson City, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in the North Side Hospital. He was a beloved son, brother and uncle and is now safe in the arms of Jesus, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mr. Walden was a native of Johnson City who had lived all his life in Johnson City. He was the son of Peggy Lamons Woodruff, of Johnson City and the late Chester Lee Walden. He was retired from the VA Veterans Administration. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Walden was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include: five sisters, Shirley Ann Bradley, of Massachusetts, Joan Castle and her husband John, of Johnson City, Ruby Huffine, of Johnson City, Doris 'Dee' Allen, of Rutherfordton, NC and Robin Cline and her husband Robbie, of Johnson City; three brothers, Robert Walden, Charles Walden and Randy Walden all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Larry Chester Walden will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, February 22, 2007 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Kyker will Officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the funeral chapel at 10:30 AM to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post # 3382 and the Tennessee National Guard of Kingsport. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
