Laura Barnett

Laura Hopson Barnett, 89, 1604 Lester Harris Road, Johnson City died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. Mrs. Barnett was a native of Mitchell County, NC and had lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Ervin and Delia Baily Hopson. Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John Athern Barnett; five brothers, Paul Hopson, Claude Hopson, Loss Hopson, Clyde Hopson, and Jimmy Hopson. Survivors include: one son, Bill Barnett, Sr. of Johnson City; four daughters, Ginger Jilton, Carolyn Trent and Pamela Cholerton, all of Johnson City and Deborah Barnett of Jonesborough; two sisters, May Jones and Esther Briggs, both of PA; eight grandchildren, Bill Barnett, Jr. ,Cord Barnett, Robin Jilton Negy, Regina Jilton Christensen, Mark Trent, Kirk Trent, Jessie Cholerton, and Mitch Cholerton; eight great grandchildren, Robbie Barnett, Jackson S. Negy, Ava R. Negy, Aaron Trent, Stacy Jones, Sarah Trent, Laura Trent and Madison Trent; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Laura Hopson Barnett will be conducted 8 PM Friday, July 14, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Wayne Emery, Minister will officiate. A service of entombment will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in the mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Grandsons and Sons-in-law. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials gifts be made to The Salvation Army, 200 Ashe Street, Johnson City, TN 37601
