Lauretta Jean Moore

July 2, 1930 — December 28, 2017

Lauretta Jean Moore, 87, graduated into Heaven at her residence on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was born in Wiggins, Colorado in 1930 to Ralph and Merna Dalleske. Her father was a farmer. The Great Depression forced him to seek better work to support his family and he moved the family to Oregon to take a job as an hyro-electric power plant dispatcher. Jean grew up in a small town on the banks of the Columbia River, Hood River, at the foot of majestic Mt. Hood. Many avid skiers and climbers from all over the country were attracted to Mt. Hood?s slopes. Awaiting Jean?s arrival are: her husband of 28 years in 2012, Richard L. Moore; her parents; two step-mothers; sister and brother-in-law; only son; granddaughter; a special uncle and aunt, Carroll and Esther Northrup; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. She leaves behind to celebrate her life: three step children; seven step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; four grandchildren, Matt Johnston, Becky Butcher, Sam and Adam Johnston; four great grandchildren; and a special daughter-in-law (an angel on this Earth), Lou Johnston Wagner. Many thanks to Jean?s very special caregivers. Fortunately, she married a southern man and by way of Oregon, State of Washington, California, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida, she arrived ?home', in the beautiful state of Tennessee in 1962. Jean?s employment experiences were quite varied. She worked at the Hanford Project in Richland, WA, Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, the County Probation Dept. in CA, secretary to hospital administrator in AL, and a prominent attorney in Tampa, FL specializing in admiralty cases. Upon arriving in TN, she worked for an insurance agency. She was a co-owner of the Camper Center and Remodeling business in Johnson City. She and her husband were factory reps for an RV manufacturer. No better sales presentation than a woman driving a 32? motor home onto an RV sales lot at 5:00 PM during rush hour in Knoxville, TN. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, camping and all kinds of crafts, including oil painting. Upon arriving in Johnson City, she was active in the Newcomers Club and was in charge of their craft program for several years. She completed her employment record at Bolton Block Co. having worked there for 28 years and retiring at age 76. Jean attended Crossroads Christian church in Gray. The family of Lauretta Jean Moore will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Curtis Booher officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday, in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM Wednesday.
