Lawrence William ?Bud' Crain, 83, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Crain was a Flag Pond native and the son of the late Brady and Rinthey Coats Crain. He was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Crain retired from employment with Burlington Industries after 44 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish in the woods with his hunting and fishing buddies. He loved watching all UT Vols sports, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Christian broadcasting. His favorites were Charles Stanley, John Hagey, and Joey and Rory Feek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Kevin Godfrey; five sisters, Esther Burton, Mary Cutshaw, Colene Shankle, Thelma Mashburn, and Macie Brogdon; and three brothers, Charlie, Vance, and Herman Crain. Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Betty Johnson Crain; four daughters, Sharon Crain, Gigi Vines, and her husband Rocky, Twyla Willis, and her husband Danny, and Rebecca Miller, and her husband Mitchell; two sons, Bryan Godfrey and Doug Godfrey; brother, Wallace Crain, and his wife Vel; brother-in-law, Craig Johnson; best friend, Larry Bacon, and his wife Diane; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two unborn great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Lawrence Crain will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Skyline Heights Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm Sunday in the church sanctuary with Pastor Don Page officiating. The committal service will follow the funeral in Monte Vista Memorial Park.
