Leon Baker, Jr., age 71 of Piney Flats, Tennessee passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at Bristol Regional Hospice House. Leon was born on October 13, 1953, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Leon Baker, Sr. and Evelyn O’Kelly Baker.
From humble beginnings in his garage in 1984 Leon began building his family business, Precision Tool and Mold Inc. into what it is today. He instilled his strong work ethic in his son, who is still operating the business to this day.
Leon was a man of many talents, he was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, golf, shooting 9 ball, playing bluegrass on his Martin guitar, and flying. He held a private pilot’s license and flew until his health no longer permitted. He also enjoyed his community of Piney Flats, especially the many friends he made there.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Hyder and her husband Dave, and faithful furry companion, Jewel.
Leon was survived by a wonderful family, which includes his loving wife of 54 years, Kathy Cordell Baker, son, Eric Baker and wife Crystal, chosen daughter, Sherry Parks and husband Lester; two grandsons, Justin Parks and wife Samantha with great-granddaughter, Drew who is on the way; and grandson, Jonathan Baker and fiancé Emily Casteel. Also surviving is additional family members, Sandi Hutchison, Tommy Cordell, and a host of relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank our family members, neighbors and friends for their support during Leon’s illness. To our work family “We Love you!” To our business associates, some of 40 years “We Thank You!” Additionally, we want to thank the many medical professionals who cared for Leon during his illness.
It was Leon’s expressed wish that no formal services will be held, instead Leon wanted his last message to be “I will see you on the other side!” He drew this from his Baptist faith and the meaning of John 3:16.
