Lillian Catherine Simms Collins Penix, 73, of Austin Springs Road, Johnson City died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was a native of Beach Mountain, North Carolina, daughter of Ruby Blevins Simms and the late Frank R. Simms, but had lived most of her life in Johnson City. Lillian was retired having worked many years for the Leon-Ferenbach Textile Company. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Charlie Lee Collins and Noah Penix; two grandchildren, Bobby Edgar Cardwell, Jr. and Joseph Glenn Rhymer. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: her mother, Ruby Mae Blevins Simms of Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Charlotte Collins of Johnson City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Bob Cardwell of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Kathryn and Bobby Carty of Johnson City; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Betty Simms of Jonesborough, Jack and Lillie Simms of Jonesborough, Sam and Gail Simms of Chuckey, John and Madge Simms of Johnson City; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Ray Arp of Kingsport; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brandy and Mark Arwood, Christina and Robbie Stills, Bobby and Amy Cardwell, Roxanne and Darin Doolittle, Leslie Dawn and Donald Suggs; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Harold McNabb. A committal service and burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be: Jim, Gary and Michael Simms, Bob Cardwell, Bobby Carty and Robbie Stills. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home.
