Linda J. Babb, 67, passed away on July 16th at 1:30 am. She departed this world peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on September 26, 1947 in Greeneville, Tennessee and lived in Chuckey most of her life. Linda is predeceased by Anna R/C Johnson and Joseph D. Johnson Sr., parents; and Jessica Johnson, niece. She is survived by Phillip H. Babb, husband of 37 years. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons and their families: David W. McIntosh married to Katherine, with sons Lucas and Alan; Travis L. McIntosh married to Lisa, with sons Will and Drew. All extended ?family' who knew Linda will never forget her welcoming, unwavering, and limitless love. Also surviving, are siblings Brenda J. Saunders and J. David Johnson Jr., with her nieces and nephews: Sarah Foree, Ginger Roberts, Christie Saunders, Regan Dube, Jordan Johnson, Karen Felan, and Robert Riddle. We remember all the people she made feel like family over the years and are truly grateful that her extended family and friends have always been there for her. She attended Chuckey Elementary, Chuckey-Doak High School, and East Tennessee State University and completed post graduate school at Tusculum College. She taught students from pre-Kindergarten through Masters degree post-graduate special education; and, has touched countless lives in schooling K thru 12th grade and graduate students for over forty years. She taught in Sevier, Greene, and Washington Counties, as well as Greeneville City Schools and East Tennessee State University. In Chuckey, Linda and Phil co-owned and operated Johnson Hardware for several years. Cooking for and visiting with family, as well as chairing the initiative to preserve the Chuckey Train Depot became her focus during retirement. Due in large part to her efforts, the Train Depot is in its initial restoration phase and is relocated to historic Jonesborough, Tennessee as a museum to be dedicated later this year. Although most everyone knew her as Linda, she most treasured being referred as ?Gramma.' The four grandchildren were her love and inspiration to fight deteriorating health in recent years. There will be a ?Celebration of Life' service at Chuckey United Methodist Church on Sunday July 19, 2015, at 3:00 pm in Chuckey, Tennessee. The service will be in lieu of visitation out of respect to Linda?s wishes.
