Linda Karolin Gjellum

Linda Karolin Gjellum, 62, of Johnson City, died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Appalachian Christian Village. She was a native of Birmingham, Alabama, daughter of the late Gene Bennett Leslie and Elizabeth ?Liz' Hall Beringer. Linda was a retired Registered Nurse with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. Linda was a graduate of UAB and the Jefferson State School of Nursing. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Sonny Gjellum. Survivors include: her mother, Liz Beringer of Johnson City; three brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Loretta Leslie of Blountville, James Leslie and Gene Leslie, II both of Gray; a sister, Teresa Leslie of Birmingham, AL; a niece, Laura Elizabeth Byrd and husband, Ashley of Telford; a nephew, Jonathan Leslie of Albuquerque, NM. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Morris ? Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow under the direction of Chaplain Chris Hughes in the Dogwood Chapel. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. All those attending the committal are asked to assemble to leave in procession from Morris-Baker Funeral Home by 12:40 pm on Tuesday.
