Linda Kay Bennett, 51 of 502 Arnold Road, Jonesborough, died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Bennett was a native of Washington County, a daughter of the late James William and Virginia Annabell Carder Cox. She was an electrician with Eastman Chemical Company. Linda was a born again Christian and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cox. Survivors include her husband, Gary L . Bennett of the home; a son, Scott L.(& Samantha) Bennett of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Dakota and Landen; a step-mother, Minie Cox of Johnson City; brothers, Robert D. Cox, Jonesborough, William 'Harrison' Cox, of Johnson City and Ronnie L. Cox of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Christine Thompson of Johnson City and Jewell Cash. step-brothers, Mickey Cox , Ricky Cox, Victor Cox, Terry Cox, Jerry Fair and Danny Fair all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris - Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Jerry Stout. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. with family and friends asked to assemble at Morris - Baker to leave in procession at 9:40 a.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
