Linda Faye McCarty

March 25, 1945 — February 23, 2024

Simpsonville, South Carolina

Linda Johnson Sharp McCarty, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina.

In 1967, Linda married her friend for life, Freddie D. McCarty. They remained married until Fred passed away in December 2021. Linda and Fred were both originally from LaFollette, Tennessee, but they made their home in Dayton, Ohio where Fred worked at Chrysler until his retirement. Linda and Fred moved to Simpsonville, South Carolina in 2015 to be near their sons who reside in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Linda will be loved and forever missed by her sons, Ryan and Keith, and their wives, Christine and Rachel, but most especially by her five grandchildren, Anderson, Logan, Carolina, Forrest, and Garrett.

By example, Linda taught her family to be kind to others, laugh, love, and to be happy. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her quick humor and desire to make every day special. Linda loved Christmastime, Clemson football, music of the 1960's and 1970's, the Hallmark Channel, and all of her "Grammychildren."

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home at 2001 E. Oakland Ave., Johnson City, TN on Friday, March 1, 2024. A committal service will follow at 2:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN. Those attending the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery gate by 1:50 pm to go in procession to the committal shelter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Toys for Tots (www.toysfortots.org) or to your local food pantry.
