Linda Solly

Linda Solly, 67, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at her home in Johnson City after a long battle with breast cancer.

Linda was born to (the late) Theodore and Edith Luz on July 18, 1954.

Linda graduated with the class of 1972 from Council Rock High School in Newtown, PA. She attended Roanoke Bible College with her husband in Elizabeth City, NC where she received her certificate for American Sign Language.

She used her gift of sign language to interpret for many people of the deaf community over the years in churches and schools and anywhere the need would arise.

Linda’s main job, however, was raising her 5 children with her husband Ken and being a homemaker for her family. Ken and Linda were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this past April.

Linda was passionate for spreading the love of Christ to everyone she met. People were drawn to her bright smile, contagious laugh, and caring heart. Even through her suffering, she continued to share the gospel. It was her wish that somehow, despite everything she was going through, that all glory would go to God in the end.

She loved crocheting, baking, and gardening. She was a good cook and loved making meals for her family and others.

Linda is survived by: her husband, Ken Solly; her 5 children, Jennifer Augustine, Tracie (Robert) Jack, Andrea Solly, Timothy Solly, and Daniel Solly; 7 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Denny and Sharon Luz; sister, Nancy Luz; sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Doug Plum; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jodi Luz; and many nieces and nephews.

A short service and reception of friends and family will be held on Saturday, July 16 from 11:30-1:00 at Grandview Christian Church, 300 University Pkwy. in Johnson City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to Morris-Baker Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
