Lola Street Thompson Cox, 84, Jonesborough, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at her home. Lola was born March 11, 1930 in Mitchell County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Street and Daisy Street Whitson. Lola spent most of her life in Johnson City and has lived in Jonesborough for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by: her husband, William S. 'Sam'? Thompson; husband Ruford C. 'Cox'? Cox; son, Jeffrey Thomas Cox II; and sister, Gladys Street Robinson. Lola was such a loving and caring mother. She is survived by: two sons, William S. Thompson, Jr. and his wife Teresa, New Port Richey, FL, and Bryan Christopher Thompson, Jonesborough; one grandson, Thomas Jeffrey Cox, Limestone; two nephews, Paul Randall Robinson II and his wife Teresa, Elizabethton, and Michael Lynn Robinson and his wife Lynda, Johnson City; one niece, Marsha Kay Robinson, Johnson City; three grand nieces; two grand nephews; cousin, Albert Leon White, Johnson City; two aunts, Elizabeth Mackeil, Johnson City, and Gertrude Street, Unicoi; step brother, Jay Whitson, Unicoi; loving extended family, Debbie and Brent McCutcheon, Fall Branch; devoted caregiver, Mary Hill; and devoted pet, Shiner. The Cox family would like to extend a special thank you to MSHA Hospice and all their caring and compassionate staff. All services for Mrs. Cox will be private.
