Lottie Mae Burleson

Lottie Mae Jenkins Burleson 'Her children arise and call her blessed.'? Proverbs 31:28 Mrs. Burleson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Ben H. Jenkins, Sr. and Nannie Cox Jenkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Grover Burleson, Sr., one brother, Ben H. Jenkins, Jr., two sisters, Maxine Gould and Louise Sahlin, and son-in-law Kenneth Bond. Mrs. Burleson was a mother, grandmother, homemaker, prayer warrior and Bible teacher. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City. Lottie had a deep faith, humble spirit and gentle ways. Survivors include: two sons, Skip Burleson and wife, Betsy, of Johnson City and J. Allen Burleson and wife, Gayle, of Jonesborough; four daughters, Karen Hicks and husband, Paul, of Rocky Mount, VA, Pat Bond, of Boones Creek, Julie Burleson, of Johnson City, and Mary Jones and husband, John, of Powder Springs, GA; one sister, Hope Carter and husband, Rogers, of Boones Creek; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two half sisters, June Calloway and Jane Hamilton, also survive. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 am Friday, August 29, 2014 in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Louis Imsande will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Ben Hicks, Jonathan Hicks, Stephen Hicks, Trey Burleson, Preston Burleson, Jay Burleson and Daniel Burleson. Honorary pallbearers are Kendra Bond Culver and Victoria Vineyard. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 9:30 am Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Following the committal, the family will receive friends from 11 am until 12 pm Friday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. A memorial service will begin at 12 pm Friday in the South Chapel under the direction of Mr. Gerald Malcolm. The family extends sincere thanks to Mrs. Burlesons caregivers, especially Karen Walker and Debbie Taylor.
