Louis Persinger, 85, of Johnson City passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 surrounded by the family he treasured. He was a native of Watauga and the son of the late CL and Grace Holden Persigner. Louis had a diverse career, including time spent as a brakeman for the railroad and as a welder. He spent 37 years working for TVA as an electrician, servicing electric equipment in an area covering several states. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was proud of his service to the Nation. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Persinger; and a great granddaughter, Gracie Byrd. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel Persinger; daughter, Rita Burleson; daughter and son-in-law Lori Roberts and Dan; four grandchildren, Melanie Richards, Tiffany Rainey, Spenser Weese, and Riley Moody; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Louis Persinger will receive friends from 12 PM until 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2018, at 1:30 pm at Morris-Baker with officiating minister, David Persinger. Pallbearers include: Spenser Weese, Riley Moody, Chris Rainey, Dan Roberts, Morgan Richards, and Danny Persinger. The committal service will take place at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble by 2:50 PM.
