Lucille Bridgers Frizzell, Johnson City passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2012 in Johnson City, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Maie Hollingsworth and Thomas Alfred Bridgers. Lucille was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on December 17, 1925, and has been living in Johnson City since 1954. She was christened in Trinity Episcopal Church; Yazoo City, MS, served communion to shut-ins as a Lay Eucharistic Minister for St. Johns Episcopal Church in Johnson City, and was an active member of Central Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN from 1954 until her husbands death in 1991. In her declining year she regularly attended the Piney Flats Presbyterian Church, Piney Flats, TN. Lucille was a secretary for U.S. Steel Corp. in Memphis, TN from 1946-1953. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University in 1977 and received a Masters degree in Library Science in 1980. After graduation, Lucille was the librarian at Steed College, Draughons Junior College, and Bristol College. Lucille was a past president of the Auxiliary of the Washington-Unicoi-Johnson County Medical Society, a member of the Tennessee Library Association, the Beta Delta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Monday Club of Johnson City, the John Sevier Chapter of the D.A.R, and a charter member of both the Washington County Historical Society and the Watauga Association of Genealogists and served on the board of the AARP Widowed Persons Service of Johnson City and Washington County. Lucille was married to Byron Waters Frizzell at the Central Christian Church of Memphis, TN, on July 24, 1952. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Byron Waters Frizzell. Survivors include: her sons, Dr. Peter G. Frizzell and his wife, Martha, of Johnson City; David E. Frizzell and his wife Margaret Ann, of Johnson City; Mark D. Frizzell and his wife Marjorie of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Jackson Frizzell, Johnson City, and Timothy Frizzell, Desaray Frizzell, Aurora Grace Frizzell, Dominick Frizzell, Barbara Lucille Frizzell, Breanna Frizzell and Luke Frizzell of Knoxville, Tn; and a special sister-in-law, Myra Frizzell of Johnson City. A celebration service will be held in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel 4:00 PM Sunday under the direction of Rev. R. Willard Warfield and Dr. Elmon Brown. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time of service Sunday. Burial will follow committal services 1:00 PM Monday in the Monte Vista Memorial Gardens, Johnson City. The Rev. Margaret Zeller will lead the committal service. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:40 PM to leave in procession. Active pallbearers will be: Thomas C. Vanover, Dr. Ashby Clanton, Robert Karl Parker, James Lee Harlan III, Jackson Peter Frizzell, and Timothy Nathan Frizzell. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Wellington Place and caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Northeast Tennessee Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, or any of the churches attended by Lucille.
