Lucy M. Jones

Lucy M. Jones, 98, Johnson City, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Asbury Place. Mrs. Jones was a native of Bristol, TN, grew up in Boone, NC and had lived in Johnson City since 1932. She was a daughter of the late William Shields and Viola Mae Cable Christian. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, M. K. Jones in 1990; six sisters and three brothers. She retired from Green Valley Development Center in 1972. Mrs. Jones was an active member of First United Methodist Church before entering Asbury Place. Survivors include one daughter, JoAn Wiles and her husband, Dr. Sam Wiles, Kingsport, TN; two sons, John C. Jones and his wife, Bonnie, Jonesborough and Charles A. Jones and his wife, Gloria, Johnson City; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Jones will receive friends Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm followed by a funeral service in the South Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Reverend Garland Thayer will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at 1 pm Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park.
