Luevina 'Lue' Byrd, 88, of 617 Austin Springs Road, Piney Flats, died Monday September 12, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Byrd was a native of Union County, TN and lived most of her life in Piney Flats. She was a daughter of the late William Andrew and Vertie Ethel Bruner Hensley. Mrs. Byrd was of the Baptist faith and attended Boones Creek Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Stein-Way Clothing Co. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by: her husband, Walter Byrd.; one daughter, Christine Hensley; four brothers, Ira Hensley, Clyde Hensley, Clarence Hensley and Roy Hensley ;four sisters, Anna Monroe, Beuna Adams, Leona Hollingsworth and Juanita Sharp; a step-son, Darrell Byrd. Survivors include: two daughters, Diane Rogers of Piney Flats, Beulah Fullenkamp of Knoxville; one son, Bill Hensley of Piney Flats; one step-daughter, Mary Ellen Smith of Johnson City; two step-sons, James Byrd of Lenoir, NC and Robert Byrd of Huber Heights, OH; special granddaughter, Renee Lowe ; one brother, Earl Hensley and his wife, Sue, of Church Hill, TN; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Jo Minton of Johnson City; special cousin and wife and Sandi Bruner of Knoxville; special niece, JoAnn Lawson of Johnson City; special friends, Becky Lewis ,Edda Van Der Molen. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Luevina 'Lue' Byrd will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, September 15, 2005 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Bud Pate will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats. Everyone will meet at the cemetery for the service. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
