Luther Edwards, Jr., 79, of 800 Rambling Road, Johnson City, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Marion, North Carolina, son of the late Luther, Sr. and Pansy Thomas Edwards. Luther was a retired salesman of wholesale electronics. He was a member of the Snow Memorial Baptist Church. Luther was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include: his wife Betty Ann Edwards, of Johnson City; two daughters, Debra Hammett of Murfreesboro and Karen Harvey of Johnson City; a brother, Arby Edwards of Fayetteville, Georgia; two sisters, Wanda Davenport of Ellijay, Georgia and June Perman of Johnson City; a grandson, Matthew Loutzenhiser of Nashville; four granddaughters, Allie Harvey, Emily Harvey, Kelly Harvey and Tatum Harvey all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Tom Shell and Rev. Bud Pate. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
