Mabel Irene Mackie

August 4, 1918 — July 18, 2010

Mabel Nicely Mackie, 91, of Asbury Place in Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010. She was a native of Granger County, TN and a daughter of the late Burl Henry Nicely and Sarah Louise Skeen Nicely. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Sam S. Mackie, and by two sisters, Christine and Doris and by one brother, Boyd.Mrs. Mackie had worked for the Meade Corporation for a number of years.She was a member of the Pinecrest Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School there. Survivors include; one son, Dr. Scott Mackie of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Johnnie B. McCouary of Cranberry, NC; three Grandchildren, Amy Mackie of Brooklyn, NY, Andy Mackie and his wife, Katy of Olympia, Wash. and Adam Mackie and his wife, Margaret of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one Great Grandson, Noah Paul Mackie; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, July 22, 2010 from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
