Mabel M Bowling

Mabel M. Bowling, 90, of 4130 Cherokee Road, Jonesborough, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the NHC Healthcare Center on Bristol Highway. She was a native of Carter County and had lived most of her life in Washington, County. Mabel was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Ollie Shell Wood and was a retired homemaker. She was the widow of Herbert H. Bowling since 1991. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Wood. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Lloyd Shew and Linda and Gary Duncan all of Jonesborough; a sister, Hazel Perry of Shell Creek; two grandchildren and grandsons-in-law, Tracy and Ashley Wilson and Renee and Gary Richardson; four great grandchildren, Avery Haas, Austin and Logan Leach and Garrison Richardson; several nieces and nephews, her extended family at the NHC Healthcare (Station 4) and a special friend, Lois Rader. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Lenny Smith with piano music provided by Anne Bowers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m. A committal service is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Mt. Home National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Richard Matherly, Ashley Wilson, Gary Richardson, Robert Ball, Phil Ramsey and Ronnie Duncan. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720 or the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
