Mack H. Snowden

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Mack Harding Snowden of Johnson City was born, Sept. 9, 1920 and went to be with his Lord on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. He was born in Hamblen County, Tennessee and has been a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be especially remembered by his grandchildren for his wonderful sense of humor. He received his training in sheet metal and duct work in Oak Ridge, TN. He also worked at Glen T. Martin in Baltimore, MD and Holston Defense in Kingsport. Mack was the owner of Snowdens Sheet Metal. He founded the Missions for Christ Organization in 1971. He was happiest when he was able to work in sharing the gospel with so many. He was instrumental in producing several ministries world wide. He helped to establish a school, learning centers and several other ministries during his many missionary trips to several countries. He also helped to bring the Full Gospel Business Mens Association to Johnson City. He was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Johnson City. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas A. and Lula Gulley Snowden; his wife of 43 years, Reta Oaks Snowden; brothers, Estel and Dennie; sisters, Kate Long, Ruth Martin, Minnie Satterfield, and Mary Lillie; son-in-law, Norman Johnson; and infant great granddaughter, Mariah Elizabeth. He is survived by: his wife of 21 years, Hazel Bussey Snowden ; his sons, Kenneth and wife Sarah, Ed and wife Susy, Gary and wife Marjorie, Tommy and wife Lana of Kingsport, Donald Mack and wife Debbie of Bristol, VA; his daughters, Linda and husband Ronald Conner, Brenda Faye and husband Allen Nelson of Elizabethton and Donna Johnson. The family acknowledges and expresses their special gratitude to his family physician of many years, Dr. Clarence Spannuth, the nurses and staff of NHC, and the loving care shown to him by the Hospice staff. A celebration of the life of Mack H. Snowden will be conducted at 2:30 PM Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Snowdens grandson, Rev. David Snowden and his Pastor ,Rev. Harold Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 2:30 PM Sunday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel, prior to the service.
