Madge Boggs

Mrs. Madge Boggs, 87, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Boggs was a native of Greene County and had lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Charles Forster Melton and Ella Campbell Melton. In addition to her parents her husband of fifty-one years Henry Boggs; one son, Ronnie Boggs; two sisters, Alice Thornburg and Maggie Cannon; two brothers, Jim Melton and Marion Melton also preceded her in death. Mrs. Boggs retired from Siemens Corporation in 1987 after twelve years of service. She was a member of the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include: three sons, James Boggs and his wife Bettie of Charleston, South Carolina, Garry Boggs and his wife Janie of Johnson City and Ric Boggs of Johnson City; one daughter-in-law, Shelby Boggs Broyles of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Ronna Jean, David, Chris, Darrell, Amy and Lori; thirteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to wing 5400 at the Johnson City Medical Center and station one at the NHC HealthCare. The funeral service for Mrs. Madge Boggs will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Tommy Melton and Roy Yelton will officiate. Rita Bowman and Chaplin Harold McNabb will provide music. The graveside committal service will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be: David Boggs, Chris Boggs, Darrell Tracy Boggs, Travis Melton, Matthew Hammitt and Dallas Boggs. Honorary pallbearer will be: Davey Boggs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Morris-Baker. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, 207 North Boone Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37604.
