Mae Elizabeth Scalf, 89, of Johnson City, went to her mansion in the sky on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at The Waters of Johnson City, following her battle with a lengthy illness. Mae was a native of Unicoi and was a daughter of the late Hugh and Lucy Whittamore Owens. Mae was a member of Princeton Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: four children, Junior Scalf, Dewey Scalf, Sammy Scalf, and Mary Ruth ?Pebbles' Scalf; four sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include: four children, Hugh ?Wishbone' Scalf and his wife Cindy, Paul Scalf, Daisy Scalf and her fianc? Brian Price, and Louise Bates and her husband Bobby; ten grandchildren, Tina McNeely, Veronica Nichols, Kenneth ?Turtle' Scalf, Tawana ?Sissy' Carroll, Christy Neece, Shirra Branum, Chasity Clendenon, Leatha Scalf, Michael Stanley, and Becky Andes; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Wilma Scalf; and many nieces and nephews. The family of Mae E. Scalf will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel, and anytime at the home of Louise Bates, 1106 Baxter St., Johnson City. The funeral service will begin at 7 pm Friday at Morris-Baker under the direction of Pastor Randy English. A committal service is scheduled for 1 pm Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 12:30 pm Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Shane McNeely, Robby Casey, Gary Carroll, Randy Branum, Matt Ratliff, and Brian Price.
