Mamie Tipton entered into rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Mamie was the daughter of the late Alex and Stella Crawford. She was a faithful member of Jonesborough Church of Christ. She had worked at Eastman Chemical Company, Dunbar Pepper Plant, Shoneys & Rolfes and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mamie is preceded in death by all her siblings: Burnie and wife Mamie, Burl and Norman Crawford, Louise and husband Jimmy Gray; son-in-law, Larry Barker; grandson, Chris Barker; and former spouse, Albert Tipton. Left to cherish her memory are: daughters, Helen Barker, Linda and husband Sam Sutphin, Charlotte and husband Charles Collins; grandchildren, Nicole and husband Lt. Col. Luis Oakley, Brandy and husband Mark Arwood, Christina Collins, Luanna Barker, Missy and husband Geoff Walker, and Paul Leckie; great grandchildren, Monica and Regan Oakley, Kristen Collins, William Arwood, Dayton Stills, Samantha Leckie, Drew and Brandon Barker, Luke, Sam and Max Walker; sister-in-law, Connie Crawford; several nieces and nephews. The family of Mamie would like to express their appreciation to Congressman Phil Roe and Dr. Stephen Box. They also would like to thank Lockey ?Hattie Mae' Carr. Your love and compassion will never be forgotten. Also, a special thanks to Tony and Trudy Keys for the ramp they built on Mamie?s home. Thanks to some of the staff at Appalachian Christian Village, especially, Juantia Dooley, Janet, Vanessa, Loretta, Judy, Rachel, Michelle, Christine, Dustin, Connie, Wincy and ?Triple Trouble' Barb. Past helpers were also appreciated: Bethany Turbyfield, Linda Wallen, Eileen Cameron and Barbara Williams. The family of Mamie Tipton will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, March 9, 2015 in Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Minister Jerry Sayre officiating. Pallbearers will be: Wendell Hanks, William Arwood, Dallas Hensley, Luis Oakley, Sr., J.C. Byas, Malcolm Arnold and Perry Clark. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2015 to go in procession to Fairview Cemetery for 11:00 AM graveside services.
