Margaret Ann Leavitt

September 4, 1956 — September 25, 2023

Margaret Ann Cody Leavitt, 67, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Franklin Woods Hospital. Margaret was born into the loving family of Arthur Cody and Margaret Mary Hebrank Cody in Bainbridge, Maryland. As Margaret passed, her two sons and husband were present in her final moments to share their love for her. Jerry Leavitt, Margaret's husband, held her hand as she ascended into Heaven.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of Margaret include: her husband and best friend, Jerry Leavitt; two sons, Cody Leavitt and Wife Mona and Curtis Leavitt and Wife Caitlin; one grandson, Colt Leavitt; one granddaughter, Cora Leavitt; her mother, Margaret Cody; two brothers, Tom Cody, and Bob Cody; one sister, Jane Raab; and many nieces and nephews. Colt and Cora adored "Mimi " as Maggie watched them for at least one day per week since they were born. Maggie adored them as much as they adored her.

After she graduated from High School, Margaret drove a food truck at the Pt. Mugu Naval Base. She went on to own/operate a daycare facility in the home, before becoming a teacher’s aide for special needs high school students at Vasquez High School in Acton, California for 10 years. She mentored and coached countless young student athletes, providing them guidance to be successful in all of life endeavors that awaited them.

Margaret was an avid softball player. She played on several coed teams and traveled across the country playing the game she loved. Her passion for being an athlete was shared by her husband and passed on to their two boys. Margaret loved to celebrate birthdays, and all the holidays for that matter. She took pride in decorating the house and providing an abundance of food for the family. She had a wonderful touch for baking, and her baked goods were always the prize of every gathering as well as sharing her baked goods with several neighbors. In her free time, she developed hobbies in painting, arts and crafts, and spending countless hours outdoors maintaining the property she shared with her family. She loved painting the yard art that is displayed in the planters around the property.

Margaret was a genuine, caring, and selfless person who always put her loved ones first. Her ability to guide and mold others for the betterment of their lives was a trait that came naturally to her. Margaret’s legacy will forever live on through all the lives that she touched!

A Memorial Service for Margaret is scheduled on October 23rd 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard, California. All are welcome to join us for the memorial service.
