Margaret Bush Platt

Mrs. Margaret Bush Platt, 95, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 in Kingsport, TN. Margaret was born in Camilla, GA and resided in the Tri-Cities area for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Isaac Ashley Bush, Jr. and Blanche Greene Bush. Margaret graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. After raising a family of six children, she received her LPN in nursing at East Tennessee State University in 1980. She received Critical Care certification in 1981. Margaret retired from the Johnson City Medical Center in 1985. In her retirement she enjoyed knitting with friends and reading. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall Edgar Bush, Isaac Winston Bush, and Lucien Ross Bush; her son, David Keith Platt; and her former husband, John Paul Platt. She is survived by her brother, Robert Keith Bush; her children, John Paul Platt, Jr., Margaret Kathleen Platt Happel, Suzanne Marie Platt, James Bush Platt, and William Marshall Platt; her grandchildren, Tamara Dianne Platt Christensen, Margaret Ashley Happel Olsovsky, Thomas Knight Happel IV, Adrian Clae Platt, Ashley Brooke Platt Borgialli, Jessica Rene Platt Nyquist, Matthew William Platt, Benjamin Bush Platt, and Grace Elizabeth Platt; and nine great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
