Margaret Josephine Caldwell, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 24, 2024, at her residence in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Margaret was born into the loving home of John Wesley Bates and Ida Francis Rich Bates of Bluff City, Tennessee in 1933.
At the youthful age of 15 years old, Margaret decided to join her sister on a double-date to the local carnival. On this double-date, she met Frank E. Green. They would be married a year later and would enjoy many years together until his passing. Margaret would later meet and marry Charles “Eddie” Caldwell, whom she shared many years and memories with as well.
She worked for the Leon-Fernbach textile mill for approximately 25 years before working at the 11-E Motel for about 10 more years. She was a hard worker while also raising a large family.
Margaret was loved by and she loved many people. She adored her family and spent the majority of her life making memories and cherishing every moment with them. Her love for the Lord shined through her life everyday.
She would have 15 children; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren to enjoy throughout her long life.
Along with her parents, those who preceded her in death include: her first husband, Frank E. Green Sr.; her second husband, Charles “Eddie” Caldwell; two sons, Frank Andrew Green and Frank Edward Green Jr.; two daughters, Kathy Hill and Priscilla Green; one grandson, Paul Smithpeters; one granddaughter, Amanda Green; one great-granddaughter, Jennifer; and two great-great-grandsons, Dreydon and Judah.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include: two sons, Jack Green and Earl Green; nine daughters, Joyce (George) Perry, Barbara Dixon, Deborah Lesikar, Jenny Fox (Phil Clark), Pamela (Dan) Carr, Rita (James) Manis, Sonia Green (Frank Dunbar), Margaret Guinn, Melinda Clark (John Bartley); a daughter-in-law, Linda Green; and the only remaining sister, Phyllis Davis. Her grandchildren include: Jack Smithpeters, Lee (Michelle) Smithpeters, Paul Dixon, Carolyn Dixon, James Hicks (Ashton), Buddy (Christine) Garland, Dora Warren, Jonathan Hill, Jennifer (Timothy) Ayers, Victoria Hill, Freddie Hill Jr., Michelle (Derrick) Smith, Jerry Ball Jr. (Nikki), Charlie Green, Wendy Southerland (Jeremy), Travis Salts (Julie), Jack Green, Devan Green, Valorie Jonas, Derek France, Taylor Gillis, Steven Gillis, Dustin (Mandy) Green, Emmamae “Ashley” Regen, and Alex Dixon.
A very special thanks to: her daughter, Margaret Guinn, for her care of her mother after her stroke; her caregivers and daughters, Deborah Lesikar and Joyce Perry; her granddaughter, Michelle Smith; her hospice nurses from Amedisys Hospice, Ariel and Tiffany; and the staff at Quillen Rehabilitation.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:30 pm till 4:00 pm on Monday December 30, 2024 in the Dogwood Chapel at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin after the visitation at 4:00 pm. Minister Glen Layfield of Big Springs Church of Christ will be officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday December 31, 2024 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet there no later than 11:50 am.
Pallbearers will be chosen from the family.
