Margaret L. Whaley, 90, of Altoona, Alabama, formerly of Johnson City, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Altoona Health and Rehab. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Walter K. and Nellie Wright Brimer. Margaret was a retired clerk for JC Penny and Belk Department Stores. She was a member of the Tacoma Church of God. In addition to her parents, two brothers, Harold and David Brimer; two sisters, Kathleen Ward and Carolyn Pooley and two husbands, Fred H. Phillips and John W. Whaley, preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Ken and Debbie Phillips of Arab, AL and Rodger and Marie Phillips of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Hope and Kendall Phillips and Krissy and Michael Phillips; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Gloria Brimer of Goshen, IN and Alvin and Nancy Brimer of Oregon; two sisters, Patsy Willis of Troutdale, VA and Judy Brimer of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Morris-Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Bill Konstantopoulos at 11:00 am on Monday, June 16, 2014. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. A committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 12:00 pm. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
