Margaret Markland

Ms. Margaret Markland, age 73 of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Ms. Markland was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Frank Guy Hughes and Pearl Whaley Hughes. In addition to her parents, one sister, Mary Hughes; one brother, Robert Hughes preceded her in death. Ms. Markland was a member of McKinley Bible Church. Survivors include three sons, Bobby Whaley of Florida, James Markland of Telford and Randy Markland of Johnson City; four daughters, Sandi Thompson of Telford, Wanda Baird of Elizabethton, Nancy Chambers of Roan Mountain and Rachel Thompson of Johnson City; three sisters, Rachel Hughes of Florida, Ernestine Hughes of Johnson City and Sandra Brahman of Johnson City; one brother, Jamie Hughes of Johnson City; twenty grandchildren, Mark Hughes, Chris Hughes, Natalie Whaley, Gina Whaley, Cody Baird, Amanda Baird, Jessica Baird, Taylor Markland, Macie Cox, Payton Cox, Ashley Greer, Chasity Melone, Brandon Mann, Rebekah Greer, Tyler Tipton, Randy Markland, Jr., Kailey Markland, Jeffery Thompson, Erin Thompson and Brianna Thompson; five great grandchildren, Jordan Hughes, Ralissa Hughes, Sabrena Hughes, Nevaeh Sky Greer and Gabriel Greer. The funeral service for Ms. Margaret Markland will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the McKinley Bible Church. Pastor Lenny Smith will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the McKinley Bible Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Whaley, Rachel Hughes, Randy Markland, Mark Hughes, Christopher Hughes, Jeffery Thompson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Baird, Bobby Thompson, James Markland. and Ronnie Baird.
