Margaret Sue Nickels

Margaret Sue Thompson Nickels, 88, 1015 Montgomery Street, Johnson City went to be with the Lord on Friday May 30, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Nickels was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Elswick and Emma Gertrude Thompson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Preston Nickels, Sr.; one son, Billy Preston Nickels; one daughter, Elizabeth Lee Hyatt; one step-son, Wiley Preston Nickels, Jr.; one sister, Augusta Wilhoit. Mrs. Nickels was a homemaker. Survivors include: six daughters, Sylvia Brummett and her husband Don of Bowling Green, Fl., Laura Phillips of Fayetteville, NC, Betty Bowers of Gray, Justine Ramsey and her husband Jackie of Gray, Alice Pierce and her husband Danny of Gray and Maxine Ward and her husband James of Johnson City; three sons, Howard Nickels and his wife Ruth of Jonesborough, Andrew Nickels and his wife Traci of Bowling Green, FL. and Michael Nickels and his wife Libby of Johnson City; one sister, Marie Joyce Toothman and her husband William of San Marcos, Ca.; twenty six grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Margaret Sue Thompson Nickels will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, June 1, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Don Hobson and Rev. Steve Dingus will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Monday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 3 PM Sunday prior to the service.
