Margaret Whitson Payne

Mrs. Margaret Marie Whitson Payne, 84, of Johnson City, died Monday, June 04, 2012, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. A life long resident of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Jess Allen and Lillian Frances Tate Williams. Margaret was employed at Leon-Fernbach for 24 years and was a member of River of Life Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Carl Whitson, two sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her husband, Bill Payne of the home; four daughters, Carla Lyon of Johnson City, Earlene Whitson of Bristol, Carol Anne Hall of Johnson City, Vivian Hale and husband Jim of Piney Flats; son Luke Whitson and wife Tina of Jonesborough; step daughter Freda Payne of Johnson City; step son Howard Payne; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and life long friend Mary Nell Kegley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River of Life Baptist Church, 819 Austin Springs Road; Piney Flats, TN 37686 The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 7, 2012, 6-8pm, at Morris Baker Funeral Home with services immediately following at 8pm, with Rev. Donnie Humphries officiating. Burial will be held, Friday, June 8, 2012, 11am, at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
