Jean Schempf, 70, Johnson City, TN, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Syracuse, New York, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Alethea Wheeler. Mrs. Schempf received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University and also held a Master?s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She was a retired Administrator with the Dept. of Air Quality for the State of Arizona. Mrs. Schempf was a member of East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #24. She was an active volunteer with 'God?s Corner'. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Schempf was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Ann Schempf, a sister, Velma Wheeler Goode, and a brother Walker Wheeler. Mrs. Schempf is survived by her loving husband of forty-six years, Frederick W. Schempf of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick J. and Elizabeth Schempf, and their two sons Frederick M. Schempf and Jacob M. Schempf, all of Argo, AL; a sister and brother-in-law Elnoir Wheeler and James Sherron, Crestview, FL; three brothers and sister-in-laws, Frederick and Dorothy Wheeler, Sebring, FL; Edward Wheeler, Forest City, NC, and Richard and Patricia Wheeler, Brewerton, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside memorial service for Jean Schempf will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 1:30 PM from Monte Vista Memorial Gardens. Rev. Lon Tobin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to God?s Corner, PO Box 1992, Johnson City, TN 37601.
