Marie Wyatt Clay, age 82, Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 20, 2013 at her residence. She was a native of Piney Flats, TN, who had lived in West Virginia as a child prior to returning to Piney Flats. She was a daughter of the late James Foster and Gladys Mae Penix Wyatt. Mrs. Clay was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church '? a church she loved. She was a Homemaker, had a passion for life, people and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, John Edward Clay; two brothers, James Wyatt, Jr. and Harold Wyatt; and two sisters, Dorothea Wyatt and Carol Sue Kent. Survivors include: son, Tony Edward Clay, and his wife, Lorie, Piney Flats; daughter, Judy Marlene Clay, Piney Flats; two granddaughters, Rebekah and Petra Clay, both of Piney Flats; great-granddaughter, Destiny Strange, Piney Flats; brother, Donald Wyatt, Piney Flats; and sister, Patricia Wyatt, Piney Flats. The family extends special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Carmen Baker, and Dr. Patrick MacMillan. The family of Marie Clay will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Piney Flats First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Dr. Allen Davis will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will meet by 10:30 AM Tuesday at Morris-Baker to go in procession to Edgefield Cemetery for 11:00 AM graveside services.
