Marilyn Joyce Shadden Goodman, 74, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2020 at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Washington County, Marilyn was the daughter of the late James Huvil and Shirley Longfellow Shadden.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Craig Goodman; grandson, Brody Goodman; sister, Beverly Lovegrove and husband Jerry; sister-in-law, Sherry Shadden; nephews, Dr. Bo Shadden; Johnny Shadden and wife Judy; nieces, Stephanie Roark and husband Jon; Dr. Sarah McQueen and husband Matt; Mary Bowman; cousin, Bill Longfellow; her loving church family and many special friends.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Goodman; brother, Richard Shadden; half-brother, William Shadden; sister-in-law, Sue Shadden; half-sister, Lucille Kitzmiller; nephews, Wayne Shadden and Jimmy Kitzmiller.
Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. She and Harold were married August 6, 1964. Together they owned and managed Craig Terrace Apartments. After Harold’s death, Marilyn and Craig continued to manage the apartments.
Marilyn was an active member of Gray United Methodist Church and loved being a part of the Apple Butter Gang and Lively Ladies. She loved going with the church to cook for and feed the homeless in Johnson City each month. She had a servant’s heart and would help anyone in need.
Her greatest joy was her son Craig and grandson Brody. She loved watching Craig and Brody ski on the lake and was a loyal fan of Daniel Boone Baseball where she proudly watched Brody play.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are directed to Gray United Methodist Church – Homeless Ministry 2108 Oak St, Gray, TN 37615 or Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), PO Box 71, West Linn, OR 97068.
Marilyn’s family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Those that plan to attend are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear a face mask. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, under the direction of Pastor Dennis Flaugher and Evangelist Charles Tuney Cash. The funeral will also be available to view online at 1:00 pm by visiting Marilyn’s obituary page on the Morris-Baker website; the service will be available to view for 90 days. The graveside service will be at 3:00 pm at Washington County Memory Gardens. Please assemble at the cemetery by 2:50 pm.
Pallbearers include Craig Goodman, Brody Goodman, Bo Shadden, Jerry Lovegrove, Bob Rotenberry, Kevin Beckett, Richard Johnson, and Shawn Hilbert.
