Marjorie Mccorkle Kitts Burleson

September 15, 1921 — April 9, 2013

Mrs. Marjorie McCorkle Kitts Burleson, Johnson City, TN, died on April 9, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. Her first husband, Tolbert H Kitts, Jr, a daughter, Karen Kitts Cragin, seven sisters and a brother, preceded Mrs. Burleson in death. She is survived by her husband, Reno G. Burleson, a son, Michael L. Kitts and wife, Danette; grandchildren, Mike Williams, Craig Williams, Randy Sparks, Polly Burleson Johnson, Karen Ann Dixson, Callie Jo Kitts and Kyle M. Dixson; great-grandchildren Kayla Williams, Tanner Williams, Ezekiel Williams and Ava Sparks; son-in-law Bob Cragin; step-children Tommy Burleson and wife Simone, Bobby Burleson and wife Beverly, Billy Burleson and wife Allison; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burleson was an active member of First Christian Church, Johnson City. She was an aggressive golfer and a member of the Johnson City Country Club. She was also a great bridge player. She loved flowers and planted and cultivated beautiful gardens. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Johnson City Garden Club for many years. She was a womens formal clothes designer and an amateur artist. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world. The family expresses special appreciation to Marjories 'angel'? caregiver, April Catherman. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Burleson requested that donations be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, 200 East Mountcastle Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601. A graveside service for Mrs. Burleson will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Friday.
