Martha ?Louise' Leonard Church, 84, celebrated her first day in heaven with Jesus Christ, on Christmas Eve, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Louise is the daughter of Charles ?Searle' (CS) Leonard and Martha Washington Naff Leonard. She was predeceased by her parents and a son, Stephen David Church. Those left to mourn include: her husband, George D. Church; daughters, Deborah (Terry) Stout, of Suwanee, GA and Carol (Robert) Pershing, of Johnson City; grandchildren, Kinsey Stout, of Rome, GA, Chris, Sabina, and Anna Pershing; sisters, Norma (Norm) Wilkes of Hemet, CA, Phyllis Story, and Vickie (Doyle) Walters; and multiple nieces, nephews and many friends. She graduated from Boones Creek High School and lived in Johnson City until 1974, when they were transferred to Jacksonville, FL. Upon retirement in 1994, they returned to Jonesborough. Louise was a former member of Roan Hill Baptist Church in Johnson City, Sans Souci and Arlington Baptist Churches in Jacksonville, FL and is a current member of Southwestern Baptist Church, where she often cared for children in the nursery. She was a former member of Johnson City Crewettes, a women?s auxiliary of the Johnson City Emergency Rescue Squad, and a former Brownie Girl Scout Leader. She and George delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. She retired from American Greetings in 1994 after several years. The family of Louise Church will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Greg Salyer officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Robert Pershing, Terry Stout, Chris Pershing, Tim Story, Allan Walters and Moe Baines. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at Monte Vista by 9:50 AM Friday.
