Martha Susie Townsend

Martha, (Susie) Townsend, 60 yrs old, of Johnson City Tn, passed away Monday September 19, 2017, comfortably in her own home, surrounded by her family and friends. Susie finally won her courageous 1-year battle with cancer the minute she entered Heaven?s gates. Susie was born in Athens Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Josephine Townsend. Until recently Susie was employed by Dawn of Hope, where she cleaned office buildings. Susie lived in her own apartment, with her roommate of 16 years Diane Gobble. Susie and Diane had 24 hour staffing provided by Omni Vision Inc. After she retired her favorite past times were spending time with her sister Traci, hanging out with her staff, going out to eat, playing bingo, rides in the country, going shopping, going to the movie theater, watching Tennessee Vols Football, listening to music (especially Elvis Presley), and making people laugh. The family would like to thank all of Omni Visions staff both past and present for making sure Susie was taken care of and for all the love they gave her. Paul McCray with the ARC of Washington County, for always stopping by, whenever Susie would summon you, and for the love you showed her. Mountain States Hospice program, for providing end of life care, both Dr. J and Dr. Floyd and their staff for the support and treatment they gave during Susie?s journey with cancer. All of Susie?s many friends for the love and support you gave. Pastor Alan King for visiting and giving Susie spiritual support. Susie was preceded in death by both her mother and father. Survivors include her sister Traci (Mark) Campbell, roommate and dear friend Diane Gobble, and significant other for several years Shaun Boring. The family of Ms. Susie Townsend, will receive friends from 12:30pm ? 2:30pm and 5:30pm ? 7:30pm on Friday September 22, 2017, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Saturday September 23, 2017, with Dr. Alan King officiating. Susie has chosen to be cremated therefore there will be no graveside services. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Society.
