Mary Byrd, died June 29, 2012, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Amanda Wilkins Phipps. She was born in Johnson County, but she lived her whole life in Carter County. She was a homemaker. She attended College Park Free Will Baptist Church until she wasnt able to attend due to health. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. D C Byrd two daughters; Bernice Moore and Sharon Street; three brothers Johnnie, Steve, and Peter Phipps; three sisters Lutishia Phipps, Myrtle Heaton, and Lexie Garland. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Darrell and Cinda Byrd; two sons-in-law Fred Moore and Richard Street; four granddaughters and their husbands, Kristi and Kevin Colbaugh, Kara and Josh McGee, Dawn and Rev. Nathan Jennings, Mandy and Wes Greer; eight great grandchildren, Nick, Tyler, Kaylee, Ashlee, Abby, Shay, Riley, and Elisha; one brother Coy Phipps; sister-in-laws Lena Phipps, Georgia King, and Ida Hanuvoski; and one brother-in-law D.H. Byrd and his wife Betty, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family will receive friends, Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 5:00-8:00pm at Morris Baker Funeral Home with services immediately following 8:00pm with Rev Nathan Jennings and Rev Ray Colbaugh officiating. Music will be provided by Wes and Mandy Greer, Megan Harsh, and New Liberty Quartet. Burial will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Sunday, July 1, 2012, 2:00pm. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Colbaugh, Josh McGee, Wes Greer, Nick Colbaugh, Tyler Carrier, Ron Barnett, Ronnie Heaton. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her and Rev. Byrds former Churches and employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family would like to thank Judy Deloach and the staff of Ivy Hall for the loving and wonderful care they gave our Mother and Grandmother while she was there. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
