Mary Frances Horton

Mary Frances Love Horton, age 82, of Johnson City, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2006. She was a native of Greeneville, TN, and had lived in Johnson City for 56 years. She was a daughter of the late Vivian Charles Love and Lula Pearl Johnson Love. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Emmett Love; and by one sister, Bertie Lynn Mercer. Mrs. Horton was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City for over 50 years. She taught pre-school Sunday School for 40 years and taught weekday Kindergarten at the church for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and her grandchildren. Survivors include: her husband of 60 years, Joseph Arno Horton Sr.; three children and spouses, Joe and Linda Horton, of Oak Ridge, TN, Gail and Roy Hempley, of Springfield, VA, and Mark and Linda Horton, of Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Derek, Leanna and Scott Horton, all of Oak Ridge, David and Laura Horton, of Elizabethton, Lucas Hempley and wife, Thanh, of Carrollton, VA, and Caprice Hempley, of Fredericksburg, VA; two great grandchildren, Raina and Seth Hempley, of Carrollton, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Betty Furches will officiate. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to, Adult Day Services, 601 Bert St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
