Mary Katherine Hopson Foster

Mary Katherine Hopson Foster, 81, of Johnson City, left this world for eternal heavenly rest on May 24, 2015. She passed after a lengthy battle with cancer at her residence. She was born in Unicoi to the late Jesse and Rebecca Luttrell Hopson. In addition to her parents, her husband Robert Foster in 2002; four brothers, Vestal, Charlie, Jess, Jr. and Ronnie Hopson; two sisters, Mildred Harris and Pansy Garland preceded her in death. Mary devoted a large part of her adult life to caring for her elderly mother until her death in 1977. She was a former member of the Unicoi Free Will Baptist Church and attended Unicoi High School, but had lived in Johnson City since 1975. Mary was a quiet person who enjoyed spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory include; one son, Robert Lynn and wife Janice of Johnson City; two sisters, Irene Conley of Johnson City and Martha Jo Long of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, Ted Hopson of Unicoi; two grandchildren, Noah and Chris; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Judy Hoilman. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:30 pm in the Mountain Home National Cemetery, under the direction of Rev. Dallas Gregg. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A procession to Mt. Home will leave at 2:00 pm from the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be: Alan and Jeff Renfro, Doyle, James, Doug and Gary Hopson.
