Mary Lou Dykes

?We are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.' 2 Corinthians 5:8 Mary Lou Dykes, 83, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, at The Waters of Johnson City. She?s gone to walk beside her husband in Heaven. Mary was a native of Todd, North Carolina, though she spent most of her life in Washington County. She was a daughter of the late James and Muriel Goodman. She was a member of Antioch Church. Mary spent her time sewing for community outreach and working ministry projects. She loved square dancing, camping, travel, and was very proud of obtaining her pilot?s license. Her family was her greatest pleasure in life. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Kreed Dykes, who passed away in 2006; two sisters, Vivian Crawford and Joyce Trent; and three brothers, Gene Goodman, Ed Goodman, and Charles Goodman. Survivors include: four daughters, Debby Clark and her husband Danny, Terri Martin and her husband Mike, Karen Watts and her husband Dave, and Pamela Price and her husband Curtis; three brothers, Dale Goodman, Daryl Goodman, and Dallas Goodman; two sisters, Ruby Clark, and Edna Crawford; Step-Mother, Edith Adkins Goodman; eleven grandchildren, Matt Houston, Josh Houston, Angie Lee, Sara Stewart, Matthew Clark, Tasha Martin, Brad Watts, Erin Watts, Kristina Knox, Mike Martin, and Travis Martin; nineteen greatgrandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children?s Hospital. The family of Mary Lou Dykes will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM officiated by Pastors Pete Tackett and Richard Long. A committal will be held at 10:45 AM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Richard Long. Pallbearers will consist of Mary?s grandsons and sons-in-law. Friends and family are asked to gather at 10:30 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
