Mary Louise Bawgus

Mary Louise Shomaker Bawgus, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Asbury Place. Mrs. Bawgus was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Edward and Flora Norman Shomaker. She was a faithful and dedicated 53-year member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. She was active in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class at Unaka. Mrs. Bawgus was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Bawgus, one infant son, Thomas Wayne Bawgus, two sisters, Edith Jones and Louise Swatzell. Mrs. Bawgus is survived by one son, Gary W. Bawgus and wife Debbie, of Signal Mountain, TN; one granddaughter, Kimberly Bawgus, of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Friday, November 26, 2010 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Committal will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steve Franklin, Seth Franklin, Tommy Woods, Dean Jones, Scott Witherspoon, and Kelly Witherspoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, 1213 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, TN. 37601.
