Mary Louise Burkett

Mary Louise Burkett, 86, formerly of 1009 Pleasant Hill Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, daughter of the late Jessie T. and Mae Nard Giles. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church on Colorado Street and also attended the East Pine Grove Park Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Burkett in 1967 and an infant brother, Buford Giles. Survivors include: two sons, Ed Burkett and Morris Burkett both of Johnson City; three granddaughters, Ashley Burkett of Johnson City, Patti Greer of Piney Flats and Carol Burkett of Orlando, Florida; a grandson, Justin Burkett of Johnson City; two great grandchildren, Gracie Ann Burkett and Jackson Wayne Burkett both of Johnson City. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, November 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Chaplain Dwight MacPherson. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. A procession will leave at 12:40 p.m. going to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Ed, Morris and Justin Burkett, John Greer, David Barnett and Darin Thomas.
