Mary Margaret Hammonds

Mrs. Mary Margaret Hammonds, age 89, of Gray, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in the NHC Healthcare. Mrs. Hammonds was a native of Sullivan County. She was the daughter of the late James Davison and Lila Maude Shipley Davison. In addition to her parents her husband, James E. Hammonds, four brothers and sisters; grandson, Edward Hammonds also preceded her in death. Mrs. Hammonds was a homemaker and a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Willis; three sons, James Hammonds, Bill Hammonds and Clay Hammonds; one sister, Alice Parish; two grandchildren, Becky Edwards and Chad Hammonds; one great granddaughter, Annie Hammonds; special friend, Rita Kelley. The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Margaret Hammonds will be conducted at 7 PM Friday, July 19, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Richie Honeycutt will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Arnold, Rex Arnold, Larry Woods, Petey Fink, Charles Norris and Larry Edwards. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Saturday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Friday prior to the service at Morris-Baker.
