Mary Nelle Kyte-Rankin

Mary Nell Kyte-Rankin, 78, 5031 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City died Saturday, January 13, 2007 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Kyte-Rankin was a native of Sullivan County, moved to Carter County in 1995 and came to Johnson City in 2001. She was a daughter of the late Carl and Lillian Carrier Riley. Mrs. Kyte-Rankin was a retired employee at Raytheon and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesborough. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, James C. Kyte in 1990; and a sister, Eileen Kyte. Survivors include: her husband, Carl W. Rankin of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Judy Kyte, II of Bluff City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda and Garry Cole of Elizabethton, Jean Kyte of Johnson City; three grandsons, James C. 'Jamie' Kyte III of Bluff City, Lee Cole and Keith Cole both of Elizabethton; one step granddaughter, Amy Beth Durham of Suwanee, GA; four great grandsons, Kristopher Cole and John Cole, both of Elizabethton, Jay Kyte and Jake Kyte, both of Bluff City; one great granddaughter Kallie Cole of Elizabethton; one brother, Rev. Carl Riley of Plainfield, Indiana ; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mary Nelle Kyte-Rankin will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Joel Cole will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55AM on Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers will be the Grandsons and Great Grandsons. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
