Mary Permelia Miller

December 10, 1922 — September 18, 2013

Mary 'Permelia'? Miller, 90, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Erwin Center on Health and Aging. She was a native of Johnson City, a daughter of the late Samuel Dowell and Sudie Pearl Cross McQueen. Mary was a retired inspector for the Johnson City Hosiery Mill. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, past member of the Johnson City Advisory Board, Johnson City Senior Citizens and the Keystone Neighborhood Watch Program. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Fred Miller in 2013; two brothers, Samuel Dowell McQueen, Jr. and C. L. McQueen; five sisters, Joyce Hodge, Margaret Jones, Thelma Sluder, Evelyn Bowman and Lena Mae Miller. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Ann Miller Davis and her husband Edward of Johnson City, Lou Ellen Miller Miller and her husband, Gary of Jonesborough; a brother, Joe McQueen of Jonesborough; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kenneth and Michelle Davis, Lori and Paul Wise, Stacey and Matt Bishop and Robin and Chris Boyd; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Mikaela and Lauren Davis, Brooklynn and Kara Stallsmith and Tyler Boyd; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Apostolic Christian Church of Johnson City under the direction of Rev. Edward Davis. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. There will be a committal service following the funeral at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Matt Bishop, Chris Boyd, Jordan Davis, Roger and Sonny Miller and Paul Wise.
