Mary Ruth Heaton Maupin, 82, of Johnson City, went home to meet her savior on Monday, May 16, 2011 after a short stay at the Johnson City Medical Center. Ruth was born on May 5, 1929 in Bristol, TN to the late CF Heaton and Verna Lewis Heaton. Mary Ruth was the loving wife of 53 years to the late, Robert Hugh Maupin. Also preceding her were 6 brothersGlen, Fred, Ray, Frank, Clay, and Dean Heaton and 1 sister Jewel Maupin. Mrs. Maupin was a member of the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years.Mrs. Maupin raised her family in Johnson City and continued to live there until her death. She was a hard worker retiring after 33 years from Thomas Industries, but also had a passion and love for flowers and gardening in her free time. Ruth had a smile that would melt your heart and a fun loving personality that would keep you rolling with laughter, she will be missed.Mary Ruth was the ever loving mother to her daughter and son in law, Kay and Larry Cash, Johnson City, daughter and son in law, Joan and Richard McIntosh, Anderson County, TN, son and daughter in law, Steve and Veronica Maupin, Johnson City and daughter and son in law Peggy and Lee Freeman, Boones Creek; her adoring grandchildren, Melissa McIntosh Smith, Robert McIntosh, Mickey Freeman, Tina McIntosh, Melanie Casey, Jennifer Hyder, April Dykes, Beverly Maupin, Chad Maupin, Tasha Cash, and Laura Cash; 17 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris-Baker South Chapel at 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Pastor Ron Adams will officiate. Burial services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00am from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robert McIntosh, Mickey Freeman, Chad Maupin, Scott Dykes, Alex Smith and Hunter McIntosh. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McIntosh, Larry Cash and Lee Freeman. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45am Thursday for the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until8:00pm on Wednesday.
