Mary Ruth Stewart

Mary Ruth (Hyatt) Stewart, 79, of Piney Flats, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Sullivan County, daughter of the late Raymond Hyatt, Sr. and Norma Lee Hyatt. Mary previously worked with Sperry (Unisys) and Siemens. She had attended service at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by: her husband of over 40 years, Earl Stewart; brothers, Bobby Hyatt, Charles ?Poss' Hyatt, James Hyatt, and Dave ?Oswald' Hyatt. Survivors include: one daughter, Debra Kay Sutphin; siblings, Norma Jean Garrett, Janice H. Gilreath, Raymond ?Junior' Hyatt Jr., Mickey Hyatt, and Ben Hyatt; several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews; sister-in-law, Nancy Hyatt; and special friends, Danny and Shirley Jenkins. The family of Mary Stewart will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM. A committal will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018, at New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats. Pallbearers include: Wayne Whitaker, Terry Whitaker, Danny Hyatt, Mickey Hyatt, Ben Hyatt and Alan Nave. Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside by 10:50 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family by contacting Morris-Baker Funeral home.
