Mary Sell Garrett

Mary Sell Garrett, age 89, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2019, at her home.
Mary was born January 12, 1930 in Sandersville, Georgia, to Paul A. Sell and Ola Collins Sell. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Georgia in 1950. She remained an avid and passionate Bulldogs fan all her life. Mary was a registered dietitian and she enjoyed working with her patients at the VA and many nursing homes before retiring from Colonial Hill Nursing Home. Mary also enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was an animal lover who loved her many pets she had over the years.
Mary was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Ann Casey.
She is survived by: her husband, William Garrett; children, Bill Garrett, Mary Ann (Richard) Davis, and Kathy (Steve) Garrett Bronstetter; grandchildren, Mitchell Bronstetter, Nicholas Bronstetter, and Haleigh Bronstetter; nephews, Jay Doyal and Ashley Doyal; niece, Kimberley Austin; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Doyal; and Jack Russell Terrier, Jill.
Mary’s family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26, 2019, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
